This introduction unit will give students a general overview over the Career and Technical framework that will be administered throughout the course of the year. This unit will be split into two sub-units, one being environmental navigation and the other being interpersonal systems. Students will get a foundational view of career and technical education which will be used to transition more efficiently into multiple shop classes.
This is an Academic Theme Unit, where students will explore the fashion industry through a variety of themed activities, vocabulary and lessons. Students will learn about the people, jobs and skills needed in the fashion industry, along with practicing the safety and social skills in the workplace.
This is an Academic Theme Unit, where students will explore the Digital media content such as audio/ visual design and adobe studios. Students will also explore the Graphic Design industry through a variety for themes activities and lessons. Both of these industries will have combination vocabulary that crosses over content areas along with students learning about the jobs and the skills that are needed in the industry. Students will have the opprotunity to practice saftey and social skills in the workplace during the exploration of these areas
This is an Academic Theme Unit, where students will explore the fundamentals of Cosmetology. Through exploration of different disciplines such as hair, skin and nails throughout the course of the unit, students will have a plethera of vocabulary and theme based lessons. While learning about the different people, jobs and skills needed in the cosmetology industry along with learning about saftey and hygiene.
This Academic Theme Unit, will allow fo students to explore the biotechnology feild through data antalytics and lab procedures/ protocols. Students will develop the skills needed to be successful in this indutry along with learning the corrects safety protocols.
This Academic Theme Unit, will provide students with the opprotunity to explore the barbering feild. Through stafety protocols and procedures along side cutting hair essentials students will learn about the barbering industry.
In this Academic Theme Unit, Students will learn the roles and responsibilities of an indistury food woorker. Through interactive activities, themed lessons and vocabulary students will learn the different complexities the culinary industry. With structured learning opportunities will be able to identify different types of restaurant work such as prep work, front of house, back of house and satfey procedures.
This Academic Theme Unit, will allow students to explore the "hidden curriculum" of the workplace. Students will discover the norms, rules and communication standards that are common in the work place. There will be opportunities for students to identify and perform social communications skills such as collaboration with team members and professional language with supervisors. Through themed lessons, scripted discussions and academic content students will be able to actively engage in the workplace in a meaningful way.
At the end of each academic year the students will submit a final portfolio to give a comprehensive explaination on what they learned in the Career and technical shop of their choice. This portfolio will be built on year after year experiences to complete a final senior portfolio
